The Shalem Center Summer Internship Program accepts outstanding undergraduate students and recent graduates for an eight-week program at the Shalem Center's Jerusalem location in the heart of the German Colony.
Assigned to one of the Shalem Center’s scholars, interns assist in research and writing of books and articles being produced at Shalem. (The Shalem Center strives to match interns according to each candidate’s intellectual and academic preferences, but cannot guarantee that all requests can be honored.)
The program also features regular seminars at which students have the opportunity to hear and respond to Shalem Center fellows and guest lecturers. Recent past lecturers have included (among others) Daniel Gordis, Yossi Klein Halevi, Yoram Hazony, Michael Oren, Daniel Polisar, Saul Singer, Ethan Bronner and Natan Sharansky.
In addition, through occasional day trips to visit dimensions of Israeli society not commonly explored, along with close interaction with Shalem faculty and other research fellows, the program provides a unique opportunity to combine practical work experience at a leading Israeli research institute with exposure to the most critical issues facing Israel and the Jewish people today. Periodic social events are also part of the program.
The 2012 Shalem Summer Internship Program will take place from June 26-August 16. Participants must commit to being present for the entire program.
Registration for the 2012 Shalem Summer Internship Program is now closed Final decisions will be made by March 15, 2012.
Students accepted to the Summer Internship Program will receive a $3000 honorarium upon successful completion of the program.
