Joseph Weiler is Joseph Straus Professor of Law and European Union Jean Monnet Chair at NYU School of Law. He serves as the Director of The Tikvah Center for Law & Jewish Civilization (together with Moshe Halbertal) and the Straus Institute for the Advanced Study of Law & Justice. Previously he was the Manley Hudson Professor of International Law at Harvard Law School. Prof. Weiler is the Editor in Chief of the European Journal of International Law and the International Journal of Constitutional Law. He served as Member of the Committee of Jurists of the Institutional Affairs Committee of the European Parliament drafting the European Parliament’s Declaration of Human Rights and Freedoms. In addition, he is the recipient of Honorary Doctorates from numerous universities, among them London, Berlin, Madrid and Edinburgh. His recent publications include Un‘Europa cristiana (translated into nine languages), The Constitution of Europe (translated into seven languages), and a novella, Der Fall Steinmann.
