The Shalem Center's publishing division was established in 1995 to deepen and diversify the intellectual debate in Israel by translating major works of Western thought into Hebrew. In recent years the Press has expanded into English publishing with both translated classics and original monographs that bring to light the contribution of Jewish ideas to the Western intellectual heritage. Shalem Press translations maintain the highest literary and scholarly standards, and several have achieved bestseller status in Israel.
